Baystate and Paulo Freire Win Easily in Quarterfinal Games of WMASS Tournament

(SOUTH END, SPRINGFIELD) - There were two PVIAC WMASS Tournament games at Scibelli Gym on Tuesday night. Paulo Freire hosted Renaissance in a Class C quarterfinal game; Baystate Academy hosted Lee in a Class D quarterfinal game.




Paulo Freire is the #2 seed in Class C; Baystate is the #1 seed in Class D.


Both teams are in Division 5 for the MIAA State Tournament.


DJ Daniels, Bryan Jimenez and crew were too much for the Phoenix. Paulo Freire routed Renaissance 85-58.

The second game was close, for 5 minutes. Baystate was up on Lee 9-7 with 3 minutes left in the first quarter. The first quarter ended 18-7. Once Baystate started pressing Lee, the game was over. Lee committed a lot of turnovers on Tuesday. They also missed some shots that would have made the game closer.



Baystate led at halftime 41-13.


The second half didn’t get any better for Lee.


Baystate trounced Lee 86-28.



Travis Jordan scored 22 points for Baystate. Tareeq Evans scored 15 points; Jerrell Casey scored 11 points.
