(WASHINGTON D.C. via SPRINGFIELD, MA) -  UMass travelled south to Washington D.C. to take on George Washington. UMass beat Saint Louis on Wednesday while GW lost on the road to Richmond.

In the 1st half, UMass had no energy on defense. They gave up multiple offensive rebounds. They did not get out to 3-pt shooters to contest shots. They allowed direct passes into the post that led to easy shots at the basket. GW took advantage of UMass’ low intensity and built a 14-point lead at halftime, 40-26.

UMass had the same number of made FGs and turnovers - 11 - in the 1st half. GW’s   defense played well but UMass committed way too many turnovers on Saturday afternoon.

In the second half, GW maintained their lead. UMass pulled within 5 points after an 8-0 run. GW broke UMass press and Hunter Dean got a dunk with a minute and half remaining in the game. Brendan Adams made another three that sealed the game for GW 81-73.

James Bishop IV scored 26 points. He made 4 threes for GW. Adams scored 15 points. Ricky Lindo Jr. scored 16 points.

Three players scored 13 points for UMass- TJ Weeks Jr., Noah Fernandes and RJ Luis. Issac Kante scored 12 points; Dyondre Dominguez scored 11 points.

UMass hosts La Salle @ The Mullins Center on Wednesday, January 11th. The game starts @ 7 PM and can be watched on ESPN+.
