Boston College HS Wins D1 Boys Championship Over Newton North 71-59

(LOWELL, MA) - The 2022 MIAA State Tournament ended on Sunday with 4 Championship Games. The fourth game of the day was #2 Newton North HS vs. #1 Boston College HS.




Both teams had a great fan turnout. Each fanbase was loud and ready to encourage their respective teams.



Boston College HS controlled this game from start to finish. BCHS Senior Mike Loughnane made a 3 and a layup to put BCHS up 10-3 early in the first. BCHS got a lot of easy shots at the basket. Newton North struggled on offense in the first quarter. They missed shots and committed turnovers.



BCHS lead at halftime 35-18. Loughnane, Greg Coope and Mahari Guerrier were too much for Newton North.


Newton North’s offense started to click in the third quarter. Will Davis and Marat Belhouchet made shots to narrow the BCHS lead.



BCHS maintained their lead despite Newton North’s run.

Boston College HS beat Newton North 71-59.


Boston College HS is Boys D1 Champion.



Loughnane scored 16 points. Cooper scored 14 points. Guerrier scored 12 points.


Belhouchet scored a game-high 22 points for Newton North.


The last game of the 2022 MIAA season was very good. Next season can’t come fast enough.
